DESCRIPTION:
A post-doctoral scholar position opening is available in the Food Engineering group at the University of Kentucky, specifically for a candidate with expertise in the area of acoustic signal, spatial and spectral (hyperspectral imaging) data processing. The successful candidate will support a diverse team of students and faculty on a USDA funded grant that seeks to develop noninvasive methods to detect codling moth infestation in apple variety by fusing data and models for better detection and classification. She/He will be expected to support other similar projects in the group, write proposals, project reports and journal articles for peer-reviewed publication.
The successful candidate will be required to work in the field, greenhouse and a food processing lab, and work with insect such as codling moth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Interested candidates MUST possess a Ph.D. in Biosystems/ Agricultural/ Electrical/Computer/Biomedical Engineering with evidence of expertise in machine learning approach to pattern recognition of high dimensional data. The candidate must have a good track record of peer-reviewed publication in this area. Candidate should also have strong evidence of good oral communication skills.
SALARY:
The position comes with a competitive salary and other benefits such as basic health insurance credit. The position assignment has an expected duration of 14 months.
